Veteran comic, Stan Boardman, has been a household name ever since he broke into comedy during the 1970s. Now in his early seventies, Stan Boardman’s career has spanned four decades. He emerged from humble beginnings, initially running his own haulage firm in Merseyside. He got into comedy after winning a contest at a holiday camp in the 1970s, and really started to make it big when he was featured on well-known long-running TV shows Opportunity Knocks and The Comedians. After achieving notoriety from these appearances, he embarked on a career that even led to him to cross paths with a younger Peter Kay, who writes of Stan Boardman in his autobiography, “Saturday Night Peter.”
In more recent years, you may well have seen Stan appearing on Celebrity Wife Swap, which he did in 2009. And in 2011, he appeared with his daughter, Andrea Boardman on the show, Coach Trip. He also released a World Cup song in 2006 entitled “Stan’s World Cup Song,” which reached number 15 in the UK Singles Chart.
