Off the park
Look inside a typical weatherboarded fisherman’s cottage as you explore life in the past on Mersea Island, based around fishing, oystering and boat building.
One of the finest zoos in Europe with over 270 species including wonderful beasts like white rhinos and elephants within 60 acres of parkland and lakes.
A near perfectly preserved Norman castle – with the biggest Norman keep in Europe. Built on a Roman temple, so you can discover 2,500 years of history in one superb attraction.
Beth Chatto Gardens
A glorious English country garden created out of a wasteland and now brimming over with a wonderful array of plants adapted to the Scree, Gravel, Woodland and Water areas.
Lady Grace Boat Trips
Sail away from West Mersea harbour aboard the Lady Grace for a delightful short voyage. 20 minute harbour trips. Runs all day, 7 days a week. Available for special trips and much more available upon request!
Mersea Island Vineyard
This vineyard not only produces more than 20,000 bottles of distinguished wine a year, but its own beer too. Come and taste them for yourself!
