Foodie Festivities at The Isle of Wight Garlic Festival16th June 2015
Summer is here, and that can only mean one thing. Yes, it’s time for the Isle of Wight’s biggest summer show – The Garlic Festival – which this year runs on August 15th and 16th (Saturday and Sunday), and is proud to welcome one of Britain’s hottest food stars, Rachel Khoo, along with a huge theatre line up that promises to showcase the best in local culinary talent. According to Rachel Khoo:
“I’m really excited to be appearing at the legendary Isle of Wight Garlic Festival. I’ve heard so much about it and the Isle of Wight is well known as a great food-producing region. I’m really looking forward to a real foodie weekend!”
A huge variety of food and producers will be at the festival, offering handmade pickles, sauces, jams, artisan cheese, breads, wine, cider and so much more. There will also be fantastic displays, children’s entertainers and live music! A family ticket is only £25, making it not only one of the most fun, but also the best value family events happening on the Isle of Wight over the summer.
It’s quite possible you’ve never quite pegged the Isle of Wight as quite the capital of garlic that it really is, but the truth is that if you’ve never tasted it…you don’t know what you’re missing! From Whitecliff Bay, you can journey to Newchurch to visit the multi award-winning Garlic Farm. Far from just buying raw cloves of garlic from this place, you can pick up just about garlic anything! Garlic beer, hot garlic pickle, pork scratchings flavoured with their juicy, long-lasting garlic – the list goes on and on.
Don’t worry, you can always pick up some mints to eat after enjoying all that garlic! But at least we can be sure this is one place those scary vampires won’t be disturbing! Browse summer offers and find out how you can best base yourself at Whitecliff Bay this summer, and enjoy one of the island’s most famous cultural and culinary events. Book today!
