About Devil's Beef Tub

The Devil's Beeftub is a popular attraction, located around 5 miles north of Moffat on the A701 to Edinburgh. It is a shallow hollow situated between four hills, with the Annan River flowing through the bottom of the valley's floor. It is a peaceful and relaxing location with a fascinating history and incredible views/scenery.

From around 1300 to 1610, the Devil's Beef Tub was a place to keep stolen cattle until they could be sold. Whilst visiting you will see a monument on the roadside telling the story of the Devil's Beef Tub's history - more of which can be found at the link above.
