About 43 minutes from park
From fishing to footpaths, wildlife to watersports, café to camping, Stithians Lake has something for everyone. Located just a few miles from the A30, surrounded by farmland and moorland, this is the largest inland water in West Cornwall and offers a whole range of facilities and activities.
The network of paths at the lake are great for walking, jogging or cycling. The circular five mile walk takes you through meadows, wet woodland and heathland, which are environmentally managed by our dedicated Countryside team. There is always interesting wildlife around, why not stop off at one of the three bird hides and see what you can spot? One of the highlights of the walk is going across the imposing Stithians dam.
The activity centre offers tuition, hire and self-launch in sailing, kayaking, paddleboarding and windsurfing (which is especially popular at the site as its proximity to the coast makes for reliable wind conditions). Our friendly and experienced instructor team welcome all abilities from the first-timer to the Olympic hopeful.
For the little ‘uns there is a pirate themed play area that overlooks the lake and also includes a climbing boulder for the more adventurous!
If you fancy a spot of fly-fishing, we stock rainbow and brown trout throughout the season (mid-March to mid-November), with fly fishing permits available from the self-service permit hut on site. You can either fish from the bank or hire a boat and get out into the middle of the lake.
Whilst you wait... just think about being in your swimmers, the sun's out and the smiles are big
