Situated right in the heart of Portsmouth Harbour, the Emirates Spinnaker Tower is pretty hard to miss thanks to its unique sail-like shape which was inspired by the area’s naval history. Travel all the way up to the observation deck in an elevator to enjoy spectacular scenery of Portsmouth and beyond. You’ll get to stand on the Sky Walk, a glass walkway where you can peer down and have uninterrupted views of the street and sea below. There’s also the opportunity to try out Altitude – a virtual reality experience where you put on a headset and feel like you’re taking a stroll along the outside of the tower! Not just a spot for great views, Spinnaker Tower boasts an animated exhibit titled Sails of the Solent which shines a light on Portsmouth’s rich maritime history. There’s also a café where you can tuck into a delicious afternoon tea (think finger sandwiches and petit fours) while gazing out of floor-to-ceiling windows at the sea. How to get to Spinnaker Tower
It would be tricky not to spot the Spinnaker Tower on Portsmouth’s skyline! It’s located right on the waterfront at the Gunwharf Quays shopping area and you’ll find plenty of parking in the centre’s underground car park. If you’re approaching Portsmouth on the M275, turn off at Junction 12 and follow the brown signs to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. You’ll then start to see signs for Spinnaker Tower.
