About D-Day Story

The D-Day Story museum is packed with exciting and informative exhibits which track the events of what happened in June 1944, from preparing troops for an invasion on UK shores to the eventual Battle of Normandy (codenamed Operation Overlord). The entire building was recently revamped and now includes several amazing interactive displays about the largest ever invasion by sea throughout history. As you stroll around the Legacy room towards the end of your visit, you’ll also hear personal accounts and anecdotes from soldiers who fought bravely during the D-Day landings. The whole museum is an absolute must-see for fans of World War II history, as well as those who have family members who fought in the war. After your poignant tour of the museum, why not grab a cup of coffee in the D-Day Story Café and sit out on the terrace which overlooks Southsea Castle? You’ll similarly have the chance to browse unique gifts and mementos in the fantastic museum giftshop.
