National Watersports Festival – Hayling Island16th July 2015
The Hampshire coast, and in particular down here south of Havant on Hayling Island, is known for its ability to attract watersports enthusiasts. This year, from September 4th to 6th, Hayling Island will be playing host to an incredible national event – The National Watersports Festival! Yes, the summer holidays may be winding to a close at that point, but the fun on Hayling Island refuses to stop! This festival is the UK’s largest multi-discipline watersports event, which has its roots in the National Windsurfing Festival, which has been held for several years up until now. The festival took its current form in 2013, and now offers events in kitesurfing, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) and windsurfing.
If you’re a watersports enthusiast, and you’re planning on joining us at Mill Rythe in early September, then this is the event for you. The NWF’s stated goal is “to provide a fun event with great atmosphere and non-intimidating format to ensure that all intermediate and recreational water enthusiasts can participate”. So, if you’re interested in taking part, you shouldn’t feel that the events are not open to you. The entire festival takes place on a Blue Flag Beach (so no dogs at all are allowed), and the approximate 500-600 participants will be made up of 20% beginners, 70% intermediates, and just 10% professional standard.
The Watersports Festival should have no trouble helping fill a daytime or two with something fun to do off the park, but don’t forget that you will always be coming back to your fantastic accommodation at Mill Rythe, as well as a great selection of evening entertainment from our in-house team and visiting performers as well! You can find all of this year’s deals on accommodation and adult-only/family entertainment breaks by browsing our website.
