An Update on Mill Rythe

On March 22nd, 2020, Mill Rythe Holiday Village, part of the Away Resorts collection of holiday parks, shut its doors as a result of the Government announcement that holiday centres must close due to Covid-19 and as part of the broader lockdown imposed on the whole country.

More recently, government advice has been provided around the leisure and hospitality sector starting to re-open from July 4th, 2020 and Away Resorts has a realistic chance of safely re-opening its five self-catered holiday parks from that date (albeit without the bars, restaurants, swimming pools and arcades being open).

However, as you know, Mill Rythe Holiday Village operates in a very different way. It is a fully catered operation with up to 400 guests eating breakfast and dinner together in addition to viewing the nightly entertainment in the ballroom together. This ‘package’ offering is an essential element of the product and experience offer.

We have therefore had to seriously consider the reopening of Mill Rythe, putting the safety of our customers first and we have determined that it is with great sadness we are unable to provide the Mill Rythe holiday experience for the foreseeable future.

The business has previously announced plans to close Mill Rythe in July 2021 and to redevelop it into an exciting self-catering offer. Because of the current situation Mill Rythe will now not re-open and will fully close on 31st July 2020 with a re-development of the park yet to be confirmed.

I appreciate this decision will come as a disappointment to many of you, especially those of you that have stayed with us year after year but we hope you understand in the current climate why we cannot re-open its doors.

I would like to personally thank you for your custom, and we would love to welcome you back on Park, as a self-catered operation, once we can. We will be releasing more information over the forthcoming weeks and months highlighting more detailed plans for the re-development.

If you have a booking with us, please do not call us, we will call you, working on immediate July arrivals, then 14 days-rolling forwards to later bookings. We will of course, be refunding any monies paid and we will work through these calls as quickly as possible.

We would also like to thank our team at Mill Rythe, we are very proud of the fantastic staff that have made it such a success, and we really cannot thank them enough for their input and commitment.

We wish you all the very best, please keep safe & have a lovely summer.

Yours sincerely
