river-festivalIn the past, we’ve written a lot about the amazing things you can do around Barmouth Bay. Being in the majestic and wonderful national park of Snowdonia, there is so much for the whole family to enjoy. One area we haven’t looked at much is what you can do if you take a moment to get off the land, and take to the open water. Boating and sailing isn’t always at the top of people’s lists when they’re planning a trip to Snowdonia, they’re much more likely to think of biking, long walks and other on-land outdoor pursuits. Barmouth, however, is an excellent base from which to explore the azure waters that surround the area.

There, you will find more information on Glaslyn Marine, which is an expert local supplier and dealer in myriad maritime supplies. If, however, you’re more keen to arrange a boat trip well in advance of your arrival in Barmouth, then it would be a good idea to check out the Barmouth Boat Trips site. They operate a 31-foot Mk11 Mitchell vessel called Warrior, and offer unforgettable trips to see local wildlife, including seals, dolphins, birds and more. They offer special family-tailored trips, including fishing excursions. If you wish to explore more options, there are other boat charter listings for Gwynedd here.

This incredible feat of skill and endurance was founded in 1977, and sees participants engage in sailing and running, beginning in Barmouth and ultimately ending up in Fort William, Scotland. Along the way, participants will see the summits of Snowdon, Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis, the three highest peaks in Wales, England and Scotland respectively.

So, take to the high seas and come stay with us at Barmouth Bay on your next holiday. Enjoy the beautiful mountain and coastal scenery from the unique perspective of being out on the water. Browse our latest accommodation deals at Barmouth Bay in 2015.
