As relaxing and wonderful as a dog walk in Cornwall can be, there are some occasions where it’s best to simply not walk your pup.
This could be down to the weather being too hot or cold, or for new puppies that aren’t vaccinated or dogs that are unwell. As an owner, you’ll begin to know naturally when your dog can and cannot be walked.
If your dog is well-trained and trustworthy, you do not have to keep them on a lead on public footpaths. There are no laws surrounding this, but as a general rule, the dog is not allowed to roam away from the path, as this could be classed as trespassing.
St Ives is full of dog-friendly walking routes and beaches for your pooch to explore with you. This includes Harbour beach, where access is only restricted between July and August to before 10am and after 6pm.
